Summary
A year ago at that bachelor party, so drunk he was draped across Buck’s lap with his nose buried in all the intoxicating silky heat beneath the notch of Buck’s jaw, Eddie asked Buck what he smelled like to him.
It’s not a question you’re supposed to ask, but Eddie forgets the rules sometimes. Ignores them. Things like that don’t matter between him and Buck, they never have.
He’s still not sure what he expected Buck to say. Nothing, maybe, which he assumed was the truth, Eddie’s scent faded to barely echo of what it should be. But Buck had taken Eddie’s jaw in one hand, had tipped his head back so the line of his neck was bared to Buck like an offering, had stopped to scent him with his mouth still open, had said against Eddie’s sweat-tacky skin, so low his voice thrummed in his chest, You’re the sweetest thing I’ve ever met.
*
Eddie hasn’t gone into heat since he presented at seventeen. But living with an alpha who takes care of him for the first time in his life is about to change that.

Summary
“He spent my whole life drilling into me that I had to be hard. Strong. Untouchable. No softness. No affection. Every time I reached for it, he tore me down. Called me weak. Pathetic. Wrong. And I thought I buried that when I left home. I thought I left him behind. But he’s still here.” Eddie taps his temple with trembling fingers, breath catching in his chest. “He’s still in my head. And every time someone notices us, every time there’s even a hint of attention, I hear him again, telling me I’m not allowed to want.”
“But I do want. God, Buck, I want you so much it terrifies me. I want to touch you all the time. I feel this need in me, it’s bottomless. Like a pit I can’t fill, no matter what I do. And it scares the hell out of me, because if I open it all the way, if I let it out, I don’t know if it will ever be enough. And I’m terrified you’ll drown in it. That I’ll smother you. That you’ll get overwhelmed and leave.”
or, Eddie Diaz has never let himself be needy, not once in his life. But loving Buck makes him ache for touch in ways he can’t admit, until pulling away nearly breaks them both.

Summary
“I thought you were still asleep,” Eddie says, voice kept low around a yawn as he ducks his head towards the TV and searches blindly for the remote on the bedside table. “Is it bothering you? I can turn it off.”
“Nah, ’s fine,” Buck assures, fingers unfolding from the edge of his hospital blanket to wave off the concern sitting dark and heavy under Eddie’s eyes. The sound goes to mute anyway as Eddie’s hand snakes through the bedrails to prevent him from tearing at the highlighter yellow bracelet declaring him a fall risk and maybe he falls asleep to the slow swoop of the other man’s fingers against his forearm because the next thing he knows he’s blinking awake to gentle pats against his face.
Or: Eddie takes care of Buck during his recovery from the lightning strike.

Summary
" Buck’s yawning, Eddie rubbing at his eyes, with their fingers still twined loosely between bunks. And Hen, who is holding two mugs of coffee, pauses mid-step and says dryly, “You know we can all see you, right?”"
Or, Buck’s hand dangling off the mattress, Eddie’s reaching for something solid. What begins as a quiet form of comfort becomes an unspoken routine, until the rest of the team can’t pretend not to notice. And maybe… they’re tired of pretending too.
