Summary
Sad reflections on the centuries that Dijun and Fengjiu spent apart after their failed wedding. Fengjiu has disappeared into the mortal realm, where she gives birth to their son, Gun Gun, and struggles to raise an immortal child in an environment that is ill-suited to his magical heritage. There are bittersweet moments as Fengjiu bonds with her precious child even as she lies to him about why they are fairies living as vagabonds in the mortal realm, suppressing their true nature and wandering from one home to the next. But for Dijun, there are only painful, empty days upon days upon days of loss without his beloved Xiao Bai. Alone with his regrets in the face of a crisis that may be his doom, Dijun withers to a shell of the revered Emperor.
Author's Note: Yep. This will be very sad and angsty before DJ and FJ eventually find their way to a happy ending. There are some episodes of the series that I avoid watching too often because I can't take it. Ep. 54 and 55, when our favorite couple are estranged, are high on the list. But Si Ming sent me this, so....

Fengjiu gives up on love after returning from her pursuit of Dong Hua Dijun. Being overlooked throughout 2,000 years as a maid, then treated as no more than a pet fox, has broken her heart, and the hearts of nine-tailed foxes do not mend easily. Embracing her role as queen and relying on her friends and family, Fengjiu restores her dignity and leaves her past obsession with Dijun behind her.

Summary
AU: Bai Fengjiu, Princess of Qingqiu, enjoys her life in the relaxed, informal kingdom of Qingqiu. She rarely ventures up to Heaven Kingdom because she finds the politics and gossip tiresome. Even Dong Hua Dijun, the legendary immortal she had once admired above all others, has proven himself prone to drama and intrigue, especially after what Fengjiu heard about his false wedding to the Red Demon Princess Ji Heng. Fengjiu is glad that her only connection to Heaven Kingdom is through her aunt, Bai Qian, who marries Crown Prince Ye Hua. But Fate plays tricks on little foxes who try to keep their noses out of trouble. And Fengjiu's delicious sorrowless pastries attract the notice of a certain silver-haired Emperor when they are served at the wedding banquet.
Note: In this AU, DH never saved FJ, she owes him no debt, and never served as his maid or met Zhihe or Ji Heng.
