Summary
Fic retitled from "Gut Feeling", which is the title to chapter 1 that was formerly a one-shot.
A canon-divergence starting at that one particular ending for Public Enemy in the break room, where Connor isn't fast enough but Hank's vision doesn't quite tunnel in so much. Now deviant through circumstances nobody particularly wanted, Connor struggles with the aftermath alongside the growing android rights movement. Hank finds himself caught between two priorities on top of his own issues. Simon takes risks he never imagined himself choosing.

Summary
Though the android demonstration had been a success, Connor knows how close it all came to ending before their victory began. He can still feel the weight of the gun in his hand, still replays how close he came to shooting Markus in the back. He wasn't as free from Amanda and CyberLife as he first thought. He seeks out an unlikely ally to prevent the fragile progress from being ruined completely, while trying to figure out himself, his past, and what he wants for a future.
AKA my mind got away from me comparing Connor's differing reactions to Amanda's attempted takeover in the different endings, and this was the result. Fic is complete!

If there was one thing Markus regretted more than pulling that trigger, it was the horribly skewed rumor that spread from Connor’s execution.
