Or the continuation of it, despite everything else. Or maybe in spite of everything else. He remembers them hugging, and Anya crying, and Yor crying, and him thinking that this can't be real. He realizes he's thinking that again, right now. That none of this can possibly be happening.
"Oh," Anya's face turns to disappointment, and she climbs her stool again. "It's okay, Mama, it’s just Papa's thoughts having a crisis again."
The war is over. Twilight still fights one, this time inside his own head.

Maybe it’s this—the exhaustion, the distraction, or maybe he’s just making excuses—that prevents him from seeing when Yor is drowning, too.
