Aki is waiting for him. She’s smoking one of his cigarettes on the rooftop, wearing a bathrobe with her hair still dripping from her shower. She puts it out on the railing and lobs it at his head when she sees who he’s holding.
“I thought you were going to get groceries,” she deadpans, raising an eyebrow as she comes down the stairs. Snow has settled in her hair.
“Fuck you,” he mutters. “Open the door.”
“Where did you even find him?” She asks.
“Shut up,” he tells her. “Nowhere.”
The warmth hits him as soon as he steps foot inside his house. It gives him an immediate headache as his body adjusts to the extreme change in temperature.
Aki is still following one step behind him. “What happened to him?”
“Passed out.”
“What?”
“He passed out in the middle of the street.”

William's body feels unusually heavy, nestled as he is under a reassuring weight. He flexes his fingers, finding them curled around soft fabric. The warmth cocooning him takes on new meaning — it’s early November, and the mornings are often quite chilly. That’s another reason he doesn’t tend to stay in bed too long, preferring to heat his cold fingers with a steaming cup of coffee and curl up on his seat before the fireplace.
When he dares to lift his eyelids, he’s not as surprised as he might have expected to find his cheek pillowed on Sherlock’s forearm, with his hand clinging to an end of Sherlock’s loose nightshirt collar.
