Summary
Nikolai leaned in close, his breath ghosting against Fyodor’s ear, his voice barely more than a murmur, soft, taunting, yet laced with something dark and unshakable.
"Run, Fyodor," he whispered, his lips just shy of brushing against Fyodor’s skin. "If I catch you..." A pause, deliberate and drawn out, as if savoring the moment. "I will destroy you."
The words curled around Fyodor like smoke, creeping into his mind, settling deep in his bones. The weight of them wasn’t just a threat, it was a promise. And from the way Nikolai’s fingers briefly ghosted over his wrist before pulling away, Fyodor knew he meant it.

“Tsushima Shuuji,” Chuuya reads out loud. “A bright, optimistic young man with a pep in his step and a zest for life. Hang on–is this referring to you?”
“Unfortunately,” Dazai laments, sighing dramatically. “You just got away with ‘science nerd’ and ‘soccer player,’ but I’m supposed to be an artist! I hate art! It’s useless!”
“Shut the fuck up. That’s not the problem here. You? A ‘zest for life?’ Looking forward to each new morning? Hah! Rimbaud would sooner come back to life.”
Dazai turns to Chuuya with the barest facsimile of a smile painted over his lips.
“I,” he says sweetly, “am going to gut you open like a fish.”
Dazai and Chuuya are seasoned mafiosos at the ripe old age of almost-seventeen. They’ve fought gang wars, interrogated prisoners, and done all manner of unspeakable things. Now, they face their greatest challenge yet: going (undercover) to a real high school. With regular teens (who may or may not be desperately trying to get them to kiss).

As his ribs expand, and as the pain spreads through his aching limbs, he’s suddenly being yanked out by an overwhelming force—and he sees endlessly blue-yellow skies as his bleary vision accommodates, rays of blurry glimmering light peak through soft, shifting clouds. He hears a voice whisper by his ear, in a velvety soft timbre, deep and rich—comforting, indolent, whole. His heart stutters and all his feelings rush through him in waves upon tidal waves.
“Suho-ya,” the voice says.
He sinks, and doesn’t resist this time.
