Summary
Knight-Commander Shepard, crowned Kingslayer for her dethroning and beheading of a false king, was a woman who brought with her name fear for the unjust and hope for humanity. Through unusual and unwelcome circumstance, she finds herself summoned to the Thessian court, the last on a long list of suitors for the sole heir to the Asari throne. One year after enlisting and completing officer candidate school, Ensign Shepard signs up for research patrol duty as her first assignment. Doctor T'Soni signs up as part of her university's participation with the Alliance's cross-species endeavor, and it bolsters her chances to get to be able to study Prothean artifacts.
Slight AU: Jane and Liara meet 10 years earlier before the events of Mass Effect 1.
