“I am aware of these facts, Mr. Tavelle. I considered them to be among your highest qualifications for this job.”
“And yet you came here alone?”
“...Yes?”
Lucien digests this. “Okaaay. Well, how’s the pay?”
“200 gold."
Lucien bursts out laughing. “Nope! Nope. Absolutely not. Do you think I was born last night?”
“I beg your pardon?”
“Lemme get this straight.” Lucien leans forward, staring Essek down. “You’re telling me you came to a distant kingdom, arranged to meet a known criminal in a bathhouse, and thought nothing of stripping nude for a parley—but now you’re telling me that you need protection for your meeting with some spook? You’re dangerous enough on your own, my friend. If you’re in the market for a merc, it’s because you are about to walk into some fucked up, unsound, insane shit—and I’m not getting flayed alive and broken on the rack for 200 gold. For 500 gold? Sure, fine, that’ll get you some light flaying, maybe a turn or two on the rack—but not for 200.”

"Oh?" This was one of the rare times Alastor didn't immediately know what to say. He watched Vox's expression intently, setting his leg back down, lightly touching him again. This time, Vox wasn’t sure if it was an accident.
"Al, please don't do this to me." Alastor was surprised by the use of the old nickname and the sudden vulnerability in Vox's voice. His face displayed a mix of embarrassment, fear, and desperation. A sense of satisfaction grew in his chest and he decided to see how far he could take this before Vox would stop him.Or Alastor gets curious about sex and decides his best friend turned enemy would be an excellent choice to start.

Summary
After his big plan to rule the heavens goes down in flames, Vox finds himself powerless and out of luck. With no influence left and nowhere else to go, he somehow ends up at the Hazbin Hotel — and to his absolute horror, he’s stuck working there as the new receptionist.
He hates the job, he hates the guests, and he really hates that deer-looking sinner who won’t stop smirking at him. Most of the others have already lost their patience with him, but Charlie still insists on believing there’s some good left in him.
Of course, just when things couldn’t get worse, new problems start showing up at the hotel... and it doesn’t matter how much Vox complains, he’s getting dragged into it anyway.
