Catra was sharp edges, thin and angled.
People talked, where they think she couldn't hear them. Wild, they said. But for the most part, people started leaving her alone and stopped stealing her ration bars, and Catra tried to not let it bother her. She expected it, really.
She didn't expect Adora.
Adora was the opposite of sharp, she was… soft. And her smile warm.
And Catra didn't know that someone could be light in that way, feel like so much like morning sunshine and not a harsh afternoon glare.
Catra didn't mean to learn a little bit of peace because of it; a place of calm despite the violent fact of herself.

this was SO beautifully written. i am at a loss. i love the way this feels. it feels lost, meandering, confused, lonely. a hyperfixation because nothing else feels right. finding yourself in the present, and finally letting yourself look away from who you were at 17, when you were still sure; and trying to find that surety for yourself now. struggling to search for what you want when it’s something you don’t have quite the worlds to articulate, yet. coming to terms with death, and loneliness, and the fear of separation: the anxiety of human existence. and seeing that in others. seeing how it turns them into something understandable. dealing with the unknown, potential grief, potential loss. taking new roads to hopefully find yourself once more. just everything about this fic.
i only wish the epilogue was longer because i am utterly in love

Damianos has not changed much, since he was nineteen; he stands out among the rest of the crowd so vividly Laurent can't look anywhere else.
