If he doesn’t, all this will have been for nothing. And the idea of having lost Childe for nothing is unbearable, in a way he had never bothered to think about before.
“You’ll miss me,” Childe had said ages ago, before Scaramouche left for an assignment. “You’ll never admit it, but you will.”
He sounded hopeful. Scaramouche hadn’t bothered with an answer.
It’s a shame Childe will never remember he was right.
