“Where are we right now?”
Ragh looks around. “Some fuckin’, uh, like, a hospital. We’re at a hospital. In Elmville, probably.”
The nurse writes something down. “What day of the week is it?”
“I think it’s a Friday?”
“What’s the month?”
“June.”
He writes down something for a lot longer than before. “The date?”
“June… third, I think?” Ragh steals a glance at Seacaster, who’s looking positively mortified, chewing on his nails.
“Alright,” the nurse mutters. “What year is it?”
And, well,
clearly the answer he gives is the wrong one.
After the most confusing day of his life, Ragh wakes up four, three-and-a-half years in the future. Things are different now.

Richie’s lighting up a cig when Fak walks out the door, joining him in the back of the building. Crickets chirp over the hum of the lights above the door.
“The fuck are you doing back here?” Richie wonders politely.
“It’s — I’m taking a fuckin’ breather, man, I know you’re doin’ the same shit.”
“Yeah, ‘cause I actually work here, fucko. When I’m here, I’m taking a break. When you’re here, that’s bein’ lazy.”
Fak takes a quick break outside the restaurant. For once in his life, Richie decides to be a nice guy.

Summary
Fabian tries to remember one friend from school before his adventuring party. One person he keeps in touch with that he didn’t meet from his family or his profession. Someone he met through shared hobbies rather than a shared career path, someone he’s confessed a secret to, someone he has a bond with that is pure. Someone he knows, and knows well.
A name comes up, but it doesn’t count.
Fabian Seacaster has graduated high school and become a world-renowned and incredibly talented adventurer. Maybe too talented. He needs a place to stay.
Ragh Barkrock's days of pro bloodrush didn't work out for him, but he's doing pretty well for himself despite that. He needs some help with his place.
Neither of them mention November.

Summary
Before the train stopped, Fabian was dreaming about the ocean.
Fabian doesn’t remember his dreams often, he never has. He says he’s too busy making them a reality to have them when he sleeps-- which is somewhat self-congratulatory, vaguely inspirational, and above all: literal nonsense.
But, all in all, that’s kind of what Fabian Seacaster is. Having been born to a fabulously wealthy family consisting of an ex-vigilante and the former Number One Hero of New Elm City, every goal he could possibly have is easy for him to reach compared to pitifully average civilians.
And obviously, on his nineteenth birthday, Fabian proved this by moving to New Elm City in order to become a hero. Because Fabian Seacaster doesn’t operate on the logic of civilians.
Fabian Seacaster, son of the former Number One Hero, becomes a superhero in the illustrious New Elm City. As you can imagine, a lot happens.

“Are you… okay?” Fabian asks, shocked. Ragh is pressing his fingers to his lips as though he can’t believe the sounds that’ve just come out of them, which makes sense; that voice had not been Ragh’s.
Fabian barely has time to think I hope this isn’t another beholder thing before the same not-Ragh voice snaps, “Mr. Seacaster!” and wakes Fabian up, the jolt nearly sending him sliding out of his desk in Bard 101.
