“Night Ria,” Natasha responded back and hung up the phone. Leaving her back in the silence of their new home.

“Are you…” Nesta started, her voice nothing but a raspy whisper. “Are you real?”
She said the words as if she couldn’t bear to speak them fully aloud, as if she didn’t quite believe that he was.
Cassian blinked, brows furrowing. Not once had he ever seen her like this, not even when Elain had been put into the Cauldron, and not even during the war that followed. This was a level of horror he’d rarely seen in anyone, let alone this female, who was stoic until the last moment, always. And so, he heard himself say,
“I’m real. I’m real, sweetheart. See?”
Her eyes flicked down to his chest again, as if she didn’t believe him, and he reached for her injured hand gently, moving it so it could rest over his sternum, where his heartbeat rapidly.
“What is it?” He asked again. “Was it a dream?”
Her eyes met his, tears still streaming down her face. In a voice that was almost childlike, betraying her own confusion, she asked,
“You don’t see him?”

When Nesta Archeron is presented with the choice of being confined in the House of Wind and training along with Cassian or being exiled to the human lands she turns the tables on the members of the Inner Circle of the Night Court and chooses her own path leaving Velaris and her sisters behind as she enters a new chapter in her life.
Two centuries later nothing is the same.
Dreams of cracks in the lake and Koschei rising alert Prythian that a new devastating war is looming in which Nesta Archeron vehemently refuses to participate. Despite her resistance fate seems to have other plans in store for Lady Death.
