“Percy, take care of yourself, okay?”
Jason’s words were deep and sincere, and also completely unwarranted. Why would he think Percy wasn’t taking care of himself? It’s not like he knew… and Percy had made sure to wear long sleeves…
“No problem, dude. I got it. ‘M fine, we’re fine, evrrrythin’s fine. Catch you later.”
Percy couldn’t escape fast enough. His heart was beating like a rabbit’s, and he could feel the pulsing all over his body. He pushed his sweaty hair away from his forehead, and once he turned a corner, leaned against a wall and tried to slow his breathing.
A part of him felt bad about leaving Jason stranded like a little boy, but he had felt an overwhelming need to escape. Why would Jason think Percy wasn’t taking care of himself? Why would he have any reason to believe a hero of Olympus wasn’t doing okay? Something had slipped up. Somewhere, Percy had been careless, or a subconscious part of him (selfish, hog) wanted somebody to notice, so Jason (sweet, caring, empathetic) had noticed.
or percy jackson goes to leo's birthday party and realizes he might have more issues than he realized, while talking to leo, who also has more issues than percy realized.

What the fuck was happening?
He tried to push the dizziness to the back of his mind and looked around the room with a steadier eye. It was, to put it bluntly, a mess. It looked like a clothing hurricane had violently struck, leaving shirts, shorts, and shoes all over his floor — definitely more than just his. Not only were there clothes, but also various bottles and suspicious containers that were definitely too out in the open.
He turned to look out the window by his bed and almost passed out at what was outside. Paul’s car, Paul’s Prius, his Prius, in the front yard! It looked to be in normal condition, but one door was hanging open, and — was that a new dent on the side door?
And on the nightstand, the source of the burning smell, lay a glowing cigarette.

or percy jackson goes to a camp bonfire and has no idea what happened the next morning... but we do. based on the song my own worst enemy but it takes a darker turn because percy jackson has issues.

No one could ever know.
Because if they did know, they would think he was a little attention seeker. If he was struggling so much, why would he ever broadcast it? People who were actually struggling did everything in their power to make sure nobody ever knew, and if others suddenly found out, then he wouldn’t be able to do it anymore, which sucked, because he liked doing it. If he told people he needed help. If he showed people. He’d just be a little attention seeker. Not actually struggling. If he really wanted to hurt himself and punish himself then telling someone would diminish all of that.

Leo is really struggling, and he really wants help, but a small (big) part of him doesn't think he actually deserves it.

“I’m a son of Hades, remember?” Nico said, his eyebrows furrowing like he was hesitating with his next words, and then barreling on. “I can sense when someone is dying,” he stated, lifting his hands and jerking them in a way that encompassed all of Leo.
And, what? That clarified absolutely nothing. Leo had already died, gone up in a fiery explosion along with his entire reason for existence. And then the Physician’s Cure had brought him back to life, somehow making his death even more meaningless.
“Not just physically,” Nico tacked on. “Mentally, too.”
Leo’s eyes widened, and he scrambled to his feet, breath hitching as the quick movement caused a flash of pain in his arm. He stumbled back, putting a good ten feet of distance between the two of them, his mind racing.
Nope. Absolutely not. He was not having some mental health intervention with the literal Prince-of-Death-and-all-Things-Emo.
