Summary
Dakota sat on the floor, the wooden splinters of the broken pencil digging into his palm as he squeezed it tight. He stared at the book—that stupid fucking book—as his vision welled up with tears.
The prickling anger that had plagued him all day sharpened into rage. He took the book and threw it hard. It slammed against the wall with a loud thwack and fell to the floor, pages folded and bent.
-
The boys have an important test on Monday. Dakota gets caught up in a lot of confusing emotions.

It was a vicious cycle. Vyncent was stressed because he wasn't sleeping, and then, he wasn't sleeping because he was stressed- so on, and so forth, until he'd stay awake far longer than was necessary.
He could toss and turn as much as he liked. Tonight would be no different.

Summary
"--But if poetry is next week, how come you, the best poem I’ve ever read, has been with me for years. You have a radical singing voice, and I could write millions, billions of songs about how you laugh.”
Kian plays a short riff, tipping his head upwards as if to inhale the music. "Music, the source of emotion, of strength, of love. May it give me courage. Jesus Christ, Rebecca Jones, I love you.”
He plays a riff again, this one larger, stretching up to the sky above him. He keeps his eyes fixed on the ceiling, breathing heavily.
A beat passes. Then two.
“Oh, Kian,” Rand sings, voice purposely high. He clasps his hands together, gasping softly. “I love you too! You’re so hot and handsome and hot. That was so romantic. We should make out and—” Rand cuts himself off as he starts obnoxiously making kissing noises, causing Rachel to burst out in laughter.
“That was really good, man,” chimes in Rolan, ever the calmer one in the party. “I particularly like the part about poetry. It was very, very charming. And, uh, poetic. I’m sure she's going to love it.”
Or...It's easy to forget, after all that's happened, that they were kids once too.
