Coil smirked. An expression Slingshot would soon come to hate with every fibre of his being.
"The coffee here really sucked."
Slingshot's smile cracked.

Based on the “V1 is the creator of ULTRAKILL’s music” theory. V1 has spent a lifetime writing songs for itself, because music makes it fight more efficiently (and definitely not because it finds it fun). It didn’t intend for anyone to ever discover this, but as with many things, Gabriel proves to be an exception.

He hadn’t exactly enjoyed his first times watching V1 “ENGAGE THE GRIND”, as it had said. Seeing hoards of minor hellspawn become puddles of gore at the various hands of the machine was nothing new to Gabriel - he had watched it do so extensively in reality, after all.
He thought it had all seemed… unnecessary. A waste of time. Pointless.
But witnessing V1 in this arena, a beacon of blue and bullets and blood staining the way-too colorful floors would yet again prove his previous thoughts wrong. As it has done many times now.
