Summary
Buck’s on his phone now, too. “Other me is… British?” he says, but it doesn’t sound right even as a question. He keeps scrolling. “And vegan? What am I supposed to even eat?”
“Calm down, Buck, you don’t have to actually be the other you.”
Chimney frowns, tilting his head, “It seems like Eddie’s the other him, though.”
Eddie parses through a Wikipedia page titled Ryan Guzman and oh, Chim really wasn’t exaggerating. “Well, I’m still half Mexican and half Swedish,” A deep crease appears between his brows as he continues, “still went to Catholic school, born in Texas, played baseball… what the hell?”

Summary
After a long moment he said, rougher than he intended, “I should’ve pushed harder.”
Maddie didn’t interrupt.
“I knew he wasn’t okay.” Eddie rubbed a hand over the back of his neck. “Maybe not how bad, but I knew. And I let him tell me he was fine because…” He exhaled hard. “Because I wanted it to be true.”
The confession sat between them, stripped bare.
Maddie was quiet for so long Eddie wondered if he’d said the wrong thing after all. Then she leaned forward, elbows on her knees.
“Eddie,” she said softly, “if loving Buck meant always knowing how to save him, none of us would ever sleep again.”

Summary
He could fall asleep like this, maybe, leaning on Eddie. He's comfortable, slowly warming where they do touch, and he can even ignore the way his neck is going to get a cramp as long as neither of them move a muscle and nobody turns the big light on and the nausea doesn't surge up again and his head doesn't start splitting in two. Maybe he could get a half-hour's sleep in, even. A cat basking in the sun, Buck could shut his eyes and stay right here forever.
or: Buck's withdrawal leaves him freezing. Eddie keeps him warm.

Eddie’s changed back into his civilian clothes and is just finishing tightening the laces on his boots when Chimney comes into the locker room, his face uncharacteristically serious.
“Hey guys, can you all hang back a minute? I need to talk to you about something,” he says, pulling the door closed behind him.
Hen looks up from her phone, glancing around at Eddie, Ravi, and Harry. “Sure, Cap. Should we wait for Buck?”
Chim sighs and shakes his head. “It’s…it’s about Buck.”
