“Wait! Verso, damn it, wait, what-”

Fingers close around his wrist. He freezes, paralyzed; his arms are held down again, stripping him of the ability to defend himself, and a familiar-unfamiliar voice is ringing in his ears, and he is tugged and turned around, and soon the bruises on his wrists are going to be the least of his problems, because… because…

“Verso. Verso, look at me. Hey, look at me.”

Or: Maelle brings back a certain someone from Verso's past. Things do not go well, and Verso ends up on the doorstep of the only person in Lumière who makes him feel safe.
(It's a shame things between them are not that simple.)

    Summary

"This feeling that all my thoughts and memories… that they’re not mine, that they’ve been put into my head by somebody else… does it ever go away?” It comes out almost pleadingly, the desperation Gustave tried to suppress for months now bleeding into his voice.

    Something softens in Verso’s expression.

Or: the Maelle ending. Coming to terms with being repainted and brought back. Gustave is looking for some answers, so he goes to the one person who can provide them. Verso is absolutely done with this life, but feels obligated to at least talk to him. And it's all downhill from there.

    Summary

He plays all the sharp, loud notes, he plays and plays until it bleeds, until it reverberates in his skull in a relentless cacophony. Until it echoes in the hall, up to the glass ceiling.

A sharp movement in the audience catches his eye, beyond the halo of the stage light.

At first he thinks it’s Maelle, that she’s spotted him doing something that she doesn’t like, doesn’t fit the perfect image of it in her head, but…

    It’s not Maelle.

    No, it’s Gustave.

Gustave knows something's wrong with Lumiére. With himself. With Maelle. And he knows he'll find answers with the mysterious pianist. And Verso sees.

She still thinks of it as home. Funny, considering most days she can’t stand to be in the manor. Regardless, someone has to take care of it, and God knows Renoir can’t manage on his own, not with Alicia and Aline providing constant distraction-
Distraction. She’s started thinking of their family as distractions. Verso would be so disappointed in her.

Just some Clea feels and character study set just before the events of the game. Also a look at my interpretation of original Verso.
