It's the first (and, hopefully, last) time she’s foolish enough to take a chance on half-committing to a sort-of relationship. Worse: he moves on immediately. Even worse: he moves on to a nerdy nobody. Worst of all: the nerdy nobody is annoyingly attractive.
Shy, bookish Leah Rilke has been waiting her whole life for a rom-com worthy romance, and she thinks she’s found it with lacrosse star Kirin O’Conner. He's nice enough, even if he doesn’t really understand Shakespeare. And as for that bitchy but weirdly-intriguing cello-carrying girl she keeps running into around school, well, it’s an interesting subplot to her life, but probably irrelevant.
