The silence grew heavier and heavier, until Penelope let out with the most broken voice Benedict had ever heard from her “He left me”.
He slowly took her in his arms as she sniffed softly in his shirt.
“We Bridgertons take care of each other” Benedict offered. “If you’re pregnant, that baby will have everything they could ever need”.
Whatever warmth that had started to crawl into Penelope faded in an instant. She got herself free of his arms and fought back the tears. Was that it? Was that his only concern? A hypothetical baby? She thought she was a part of the family, as honorary as the title got. Was that the condition under which she could be a “Bridgerton”? Have Colin’s child? Did he care so little about her as a person if she was not pregnant? Now that Colin had left, she felt like a problem that the Bridgerton family needed to solve.

Week 3 was frustration: one time. my first time. we said nothing would change.
Week 4 was pure anger: what happened to your promise to be a better friend? if you didn’t mean it, then why say it at all? screw you.
Week 5 was a late period, not unusual for Pen, but still cause for concern: Colin, i really need my friend right now. why is Anthony here for me more than you?
Week 6 was an encounter. Brunch. Colin and Marina announcing their engagement and pregnancy.
Week 7 was surrender: i get it. you’re doing what’s right for the baby. i’ll leave you alone.
Week 8 was a positive pregnancy test… and realizing she was on her own.When Penelope finds out she’s unexpectedly expecting, who does she turn to? The only person who noticed.
