The lights flicker back on just as Isaac's trying to fall asleep. He doesn't get up to turn them off. He breathes out and tries to get comfortable without his blankets getting anywhere near his face.
"Hey, God," he says, tentative, mumbling to his ceiling. "Sorry for blowing up a church today. In all fairness, I guess I almost died. Dude, that's a good enough reason for you, right?"
After killing the Striga, Isaac has a bad day. Couple days. Weeks.

“Sorry,” William let out a breathy laugh, “I didn’t mean to fall asleep on you.”
“I don’t mind,” Dakota kept his hand carding through William’s hair, “I would’ve brought you to your room if I did.”
A laugh escaped William as he shook his head, “Yeah, I forget you can just- do that. Super strength and stuff.”
Dakota nodded and titled his head, keeping that same, fond smile, “And stuff.”
Dakota could have sworn that he saw William’s face flush, but he brushed it off thinking it was something else.
“I should get up,” William announced after a moment of silence.
“You don’t have to,” Dakota tried to keep the disappointment in his voice to a minimum, but it didn’t work very well.

He waited, frozen like a deer in the headlights, barely breathing so as to not make a sound. For a moment, the base was silent again. But then, the footsteps resumed, approaching the kitchen and William could feel his heart drop. Even as he tried to go invisible, he knew that the open cabinets and hot chocolate packets on the counter were a good enough giveaway.
William could see Dakota round the corner, red hair messy and sticking up in every which way. He rubbed his eyes, a loose tank top hanging off his shoulders as he yawned, looking exhausted.
