    Something unexplainable has happened in the Fold, something that should have been impossible. The Crows don't care very much about that. They're all just trying to find each other again after getting separated. Jesper's in West Ravka, lost and on the run from Drüskelle. Inej is desperate to make it to the Little Palace before too many secrets are revealed. And Kaz...well everyone has a lot of questions about Kaz, even if no one knows where he is.

    Meanwhile, Alina starts to investigate the history of the Grisha and their Saints, avoiding the Darkling at every turn and visiting the strange grave she found before. Aleksandr, for his part, has begun to move forward in his own plans, even if he isn't sure what he wants anymore.
