Nancy stays still and waits for Robin to catch up, an odd expression on her face that she can’t quite place. It takes her a few seconds to recognise it as a barely repressed smile.
“How are you?” Nancy asks, softly. It’s very new, all this. Nancy. Robin. Whatever is happening between them.
A week ago their interactions were limited to small glances in school corridors and the shared understanding that they had gone through things that no one else would ever understand. But now they apparently have the kind of relationship that leads to genuine concern about Robin’s wellbeing while they walk through literal hell.
