Decades of art, and all of it woefully empty of substance, because the greatest tragedy of the Capitol is that the people living there have nothing meaningful to say.

He can hear soft, muffled whimpers. Then, he tastes the rough texture of his dry mouth. The stale smell of dampened wood like that of a leaking roof comes last.
But still, he keeps his eyes closed tight.

“Hawks,” Dabi chokes out, his spine arching with the bolt of electric pleasure that shoots through him. The hero frowns.
“Keigo,” he corrects. “Please, just Keigo.”
Dabi blinks, that same fluttery pain hitting him that had earlier when he realized Hawks might not be bullshitting him. That the hero might give an actual damn, after all.
Remember, none of this matters in the long run, he reminds himself. Hawks or Keigo, he’s still got a job to do.

Dabi knows Hawks is a spy, and he makes him pay for it as often as he can.
Makes him pay, until he sees Hawks break, and realizes that he can't be the kind of villain it would take to destroy the hero.
So he leaves.
Unfortunately, Hawks pursues.
