“Well, this isn’t the first time that we’ve met, actually. Not for me anyway.”
For some reason, this is the thing that has shocked Regulus the most about this strange meeting. How could this not be the first time that they’ve met? Regulus has never seen this man before, it doesn’t make any sense.
At Regulus’ obvious confusion, the man continues, “When I time travel, I travel to the same places a lot. This is one of those places. I’ve travelled here many, many times. You and I, we’re something like friends.”

Summary
The first thing Viktor feels when he wakes up after being spat out by the Arcane is pain.
He doesn’t make any noise. He’s used to it.
What he’s not used to is the sudden, featherlight touch of someone else’s fingers on his face, softly brushing aside a lock of Viktor’s hair, as if he was something precious and fragile.
“Hey,” someone says next to him. A deep rumble with a soothing tone. It’s not his mother’s voice. Viktor can’t remember his father’s. But this is familiar.
