“Should call you the Ottawa Puppies,” says the Toronto centre, Svensson. As an insult it makes no sense, so Ilya ignores it, until he continues, “Hear Hollander keeps you on a short leash.”
Ilya is the captain, so if anything, he should be holding the leash. In English, you can be singular or plural, but he knows what Svensson is trying to say. He is saying Ilya Rozanov, you are Hollander’s bitch.
“Only sometimes,” Ilya replies, grinning. He wins the face off.
OR: Ilya trains himself to be a very, very good guard dog for Shane.

Summary
Ilya’s hand wraps around his bare wrist and squeezes. Shane barely stops himself from collapsing to his knees.
The pressure lights up every receptor of his touch-starved nervous system, wrenching a small, pained noise from the back of his throat. Every muted sensation comes flooding back so intensely that it almost hurts. He needs Ilya to hold him down until there’s nothing inside him but quiet. He wants to sink into him and disappear.
It takes Shane an entire beat to remember where they are. Fighting against the fog in his mind, he manages to drag his gaze up to meet Ilya’s.
There’s a slow-dawning horror and understanding on Ilya’s face.

Summary
Everyone knows that omegas might not be banned from playing in the NHL, but they never get drafted. So when Otter presents as an omega, he kind of just…ignores it. Everyone thinks he’s a beta, and he lets them. He develops a system that works, gets drafted by the Dallas Stars, and goes about his life living his dream.
Mush is an alpha who maybe takes that role more seriously than even hockey. He’s 30, unmated, and maybe a little in love with his best friend, but it’s totally fine. It’s manageable. At least it was, until Otter’s suppressants failed unexpectedly. Now a lot of the quiet parts of his life are becoming very loud.
(Also includes a whole B plot featuring clueless good guy captain Jamie Benn and damaged chaos gremlin Tyler Seguin.)
