Jamie and Tyler’s first time hadn’t been nice and loving, or even wild and passionate. It had been violent and forceful and blind, deaf, angry.
Tyler wished sometimes that Jamie knew that they had actually started in the soft muted space in between cities, in a clear blue sky while Tyler was wrapped up in his scent and their knees touched in a way that meant nothing but demanded Tyler’s awareness all the same.

A rare thunderstorm smears neon streaks of light across the tacky booth tables that line the wall. An old school radio crones from the kitchen access ledge, the storm isn’t going to let up till late tomorrow night. The diner has been deserted since Wyatt had served the last of the late-night dinner crowd an hour ago. Outside of the handful of townsfolk, Wyatt rarely sees the same face twice. The Black Dog Diner seems to be stuck in time, from the gritty black and white tiled floors, the stereotypical 1950s red booths, even down to the jukebox shoved in the back corner. The “out of order” sign had been taped to it since Wyatt's first day, three and a half years ago, a staple for the Diner. He has been the only one of the revolving door that makes up the waitstaff to stay for that long, aside from the kitchen staff.
