“Since when can you take me down, kitty?” Carag returned the nickname, getting into position as well.
Dorian stared at him for a few seconds. Carag didn’t look away, not even when he saw an innocent, mischievous smirk appearing on his friend’s lips… until Carag’s eyes swam back to Dorian’s.
“Since you stopped paying attention every time I look you in the eyes,” Dorian remarked, leaving Carag speechless as he charged at him too quickly.

Ronno could have been having a good day.
But no.
Bambi had to exist to throw at him the craziest question he’d ever heard.
“You want me to be your… what?”
Someone else in the forest is getting a little too flirtatious and close to Bambi, and without thinking twice, Bambi tells them he already has a mate: Ronno.
At first, Ronno agrees to fake the relationship just to annoy the deer that was bothering Bambi. But as the lie progresses, they both begin to notice that their supposed fake relationship as mates has more chemistry than they imagined.

“And who is it with?” Bambi breathed, almost pleading. He felt tired all of a sudden.
“All I can tell you is that now your heart is lost, and it needs to be found.” His father offered him a warm smile, sympathizing with Bambi. “You have to find the moment where it was lost and there you will find everything you want to know. You will know how to do everything you could not do, son.”

Bambi suddenly hissed through clenched teeth and turned his head back toward his thigh, breaking eye contact. That time Ronno saw what he was doing—Bambi was licking himself with a little eagerness. But he also saw what he was licking.
Ronno’s breathing stopped for a few seconds.

Ronno completely got rid of his smirk, his posture, and his voice came out more serious, harsher than expected when he asked Bambi,

“Uh, Bambi, what are you doing?”
“Huh?” Bambi blinked a few times and raised his ears. He looked away from the blur of deer and looked down at Thumper, who had appeared next to him and spoken to him. He also came accompanied by Flower. “Oh… I’m watching the herd run?”
Thumper looked up at him and raised a suspicious eyebrow, somewhere between confused and amused, “Why are you answering with a question?”
Bambi quickly lowered his ears again and blushed. Flower laughed charmingly to himself, taking pity on Bambi.
“Thumper, I think it’s obvious he’s watching the herd run. But you have to see who he’s really looking at.”
Okay, Bambi may or may not be in love a little bit with Ronno. He may or may not be a bit of an impulsive deer. And that's totally fine, really.

“I don’t want you to leave, Wilbur.” Lewis dragged his shoe across the ground, closer to Wilbur’s converse, and their shoe tips touched. It was a closeness that made his chest tighten and his heart flutter with a small amount of hope.
Out of the corner of his eye, Lewis saw that Wilbur looked down at their shoes together and then back at him, playing with his fingers as some sort of distraction while keeping his elbows on his knees. Lewis knew from that look that the little hope he had was going to fade. He knew it and still.
“I need to go, and you know that.” Wilbur’s voice was barely a soft whisper, as if he also wanted to believe in the hope of staying. As if he were softening the moment before the catastrophe.

“You’re crying.” Ronno blurted it out so he could hear himself say it, to believe that what he was seeing was something real and not substantial. Bambi crying had never been so painfully real until now.
The response to that new feeling was one of quick reaction—Ronno ran to Bambi and tucked his head under his snout so he wouldn’t fall to the ground like Bambi’s legs wanted him to. Another sob came from Bambi’s clenched teeth and Ronno wanted to know. He wanted to know why the extreme happiness had turned into raw sadness in a matter of nothing, like lightning scorching a living flower.
He wanted to know why the cosmos wanted Ronno to witness a whole new side of the smiling Bambi.

“Hey, Flower.” Bambi tilted his head curiously, shifting a bit in place. Flower hummed, indicating that he was listening. Bambi continued, a little nervous, “How… how do you know which flower is the best for each animal? How do you know what their type of flower is?”
“Why do you ask?” Flower asked in his usual silky voice, blinking lazily. Bambi noted the exact moment Flower's delicate features softened even more as he realized the why of Bambi's question. “Oh. Oh, Bambi. Do you want to give flowers to someone special? Is that?”
Bambi is in love. Flower realizes.
If love was like a seed, each approach like a stem, each moment like its leaves, and each affection like its soft petals… better to let that flower continue to bloom, right?
