Never once taking his eyes off the skyline in front of them, the younger of the two slowly crept his hand out before linking it with his lovers. The other simply squeezed his hand back, still staring silently into the horizon. Eventually, he looked toward his partner though. His shoulder-length blonde hair flowed in the wind like the leaves around him, framing him as if he was the focus of this painting. He watched in silent awe, admiring every intricate detail of his beloved. From the way his hair shone like gold, to the way his eyes held a slight twinkle whenever the children's laughter would reach his ears. He even loved the way his nose was ever so slightly crooked. He loved everything about him, yet he would never voice his admiration for fear of pushing the other away. So he remained silent, watching as this ever fleeting man sat still for the first time in his life.

For weeks now, Zhongli has occupied Childe’s thoughts. He’s nearly reached for Zhongli so many times, has almost made an overture that can’t be ignored, but he’s held himself back. He’s not an idiot; he knows not to mix business and pleasure. Zhongli is working with him, with the Fatui, and getting involved… Not smart.
But his thoughts are fuzzy, and everything is so warm and good. He feels good, and doing something that feels good isn’t stupid.
His fingertips brush against Zhongli’s.
After a night of drinking with Zhongli, Childe makes an impulsive decision.

Zhongli’s eyes glow with firelight and mirth. Diluc can barely stand him, dragging out the inevitable for the sake of his own amusement. He aches and Zhongli delights in it. With a blush riding high on his cheek, Diluc turns into one of the hands still against the side of his face and offers the whisper of a kiss to Zhongli’s palm. “I have never seen a phoenix as inhibited as you. Is it so bad to burn, Diluc?”
Zhongli makes a trip to Mondstadt and makes it a priority to see Diluc.

Or; Zhongli would really appreciate it if people stopped bringing him human offerings in an effort to negate the consequences of breaking a contract.

"Huh, that's a new colour on you, Diluc.” Kaeya’s star-shaped pupil glints, inspecting the new accessory that hangs on Diluc’s vest. “Cor Lapis brooch? Where did you get this?"
"From Liyue."
“Ah, that’s nice. You don't really buy jewellery often. And bright orange, too. You mostly wear black, whites and reds.” Kaeya rambles while eyeing the brooch thoroughly. “Did you buy it or something?”
Diluc glares pointedly at him, not wanting to give a straight answer, but he is not someone who can lie smoothly like his brother at the same time.
Unfortunately, he is very much an open book, and Kaeya has known him since kids. So that response was all it took for him to pick up the silent answer.
"Oh.” He grins a bit too wide, too cheekily. “Did you meet someone?"

Suddenly, the unscrupulous associate moved into Zhongli with full intention of pressing his puckered lips onto the consultant’s own. His onslaught was, however, ceased by Neuvillette’s hand on his face. From the other side, Zhongli, who clearly predicted the unsavory movement through thousands of years of accumulated raw battle instincts, fluidly leaned away from his situated position.
Awkward silence.
“I’m sorry! I was simply too taken away and mesmerized by your beauty and I–I–!”
“Permission must still be obtained,” Neuvillette remarked sternly.

Or, Zhongli is oblivious and entertained any unsavory character in his space as long as there is a contract involved. Neuvillette, on the other hand, has mastered the arts of keeping trouble away from his entire life experience and intended to put it to good use.
