We won’t release a statement right away, someone from the front office said, but if you’re missing a couple games there’s going to be questions. What are we going to call it? A family emergency?
Ilya had almost laughed. What emergency? His father is already fucking dead.

Bookmarker's Notes
"His father would never accept anything less than full dress. He’ll be screaming in Ilya’s head all day if he doesn’t wear the suit. Maybe it’ll be thrilling, now that he’s not alive. Like he’s still there in spirit. People love saying that about the dead, but it’s not true. Ilya knows. He’s been wearing his mama’s cross for thirteen years."

Summary
Todd Anderson wasn’t a fan of birthdays. The crowds, the attention; it was all too much. After Neil’s passing, birthdays were never the same again. But for someone who detests the day, Todd sure tends to have a lot of unforgettable birthdays.
On his 25th birthday, he broke up with a girl he never truly loved because his heart still belonged to another. On his 26th birthday, he rekindled a bond that was repeatedly broken by achievements and competition.
On his 27th birthday, he had a life-altering conversation with his greatest mentor.
Or; a tale of love, grief, and sucking the marrow out of life, told across three unforgettable birthdays.Bookmarked by phoenixxrv

this fic ripped my heart out, smashed it on a pike, and served me a warm cup of tea to fill the void.

Summary
It is not the Todd Anderson of Welton sitting there on that hospital cot, with his uniform blazer two sizes too big and his tie all disheveled. It is twenty-seven year old Todd Anderson, who has shed both his babyfat and meekness for a lean, manly confidence. His jaw is sharp and his cheekbones are prominent, and, to make matters impossibly worse, he has gained the startling ability to grow facial hair.
It would take a blind, foolish man not to recognize that he is handsome now. Grown-up.
Doctor Neil Perry can’t breathe.
Volta (n.) A rhetorical shift or change. When a poem takes a dramatic turn into revelation.

Summary
The Norse countries are lands of mountains and rivers, riches and danger, home to battle-hardened Vikings, intimidating volvas, stone-fisted jarls, and many more.
The Norse lands also draw Yusuf, a merchant from Tunis seeking to trade for their wealth. He travels north every year, with the goal of bringing home the greatest profit he can find.
Then his life is saved by a handsome stranger named Nicolò, who soon proves himself a kind and good friend.
And Yusuf has another goal each time he travels to the Norse lands: not falling in love with him.
