Summary
Post-Vecna and during their graduation, El and Max have rekindled their relationship as best friends. The rest of the party graduated two years before them, so they are the only two party members left in Hawkins. Even though it feels humiliating to be 20 and just about to graduate, both El and Max are happy to have each other. What they don't know? Summary
After Vecna's death, the party is trying to come to terms with living a normal life. Jane is slowly being (re-)introduced into society. Hawkins is still in quarantine.
Jane suspects that Mike doesn't love her and in her pursuit of finding out what happened to the two of them, she stumbles upon his biggest secret. This leaves her world shattered as she tries to untangle the mess she finds herself in. She confides in Max and finds out that there is a lot she has yet to learn about herself.
While Jane is working out what all of this means for her and her relationship with Mike, Mike starts to suspect that Jane is going to break up with him. He doesn't understand what he did wrong; after all, he loves her a lot. But deep down, he knows he doesn't love her the way his sister loves Jonathan or Lucas loves Max. Feeling helpless, he tries to confide in Nancy. Mike knows that there is one person he actually wants to talk about all of this: Will. But even though he doesn't understand the exact reason for it, Mike knows Will is the one person he can't talk to about his feelings. Mike has a secret. But is a secret a secret when the person who is holding onto it doesn't know about its existence?
