Summary
Finally, Sirius turns toward the girls’ bowl.
“As is tradition, we begin with the ladies.”
He reaches in, fingers swirling through the slips.
Taking the slip out — he reads: “Lavender Brown!” with a gentle smile.
Harry shoots a look at Lavender, watching the girls standing around her move away as if she’s contracted a plague. She looks as if she’s no longer in her body, moving to the aisle between the boys and the girls, before being dragged to the stage by the Peacekeepers.
“And now for the boys!” Sirius exclaims, walking to the glass bowl on the left. He reaches in — shuffling the slips around, before pulling one out and opening it.
Sirius walks to the mic and reads: “Harry Potter.”

Mike can hear the smile in Will's voice when he picks up, and it’s startling how easily he can imagine it.Will, leaning against the wall of his new house. Probably wearing bright colours and flip flops- or whatever it is that Max keeps assuring him everyone in California wears. He knows the exact angles at which Will’s smile tilts, different depending on whether he’s teasing or just excited.
Closing his eyes, Mike tries to remember the angle of El’s smile.
He can't. It troubles him enough to ruin everything.
“Is El there?” he asks. When Will responds, there is no longer a smile in his voice.
Only a couple of Mike's calls to Lenora actually go through, and he never says quite what he means.
Until he does.

You have more in common with him than El, says the voice in Will’s head. He wonders, briefly, whether it would be weird to shove his face back into the pillow and scream.
Will is definitely not qualified to be giving out any relationship advice. For one, he's never actually dated anyone before. Second, one of the people in said relationship is his sister. And third, the other person is the guy he's sort of in love with. There's no possible way this could backfire. Right?
