She groans and pushes aside the stack of papers she was focused on. “If you would join the council again, Mr. Talis, maybe you could take some of this paperwork off of my hands.”
He laughs and shakes his head, holding his hands up in surrender. “No, we saw how that went last time. I’d rather spend my time in the academy labs, thanks. Besides, I haven’t been very popular with the council or with the citizens since I came out in support of, you know, not having Viktor thrown into Stillwater or executed.”
After the war, Caitlyn and Jayce have a quiet conversation.

When Viktor says, “Jayce, your leg…” his voice does not reverberate with an otherworldly echo. He sounds like Viktor—just Viktor. Jayce’s partner.
“It’s okay,” Jayce says. He wraps his fingers around the hand that Viktor offers him, and as their skin touches, an electric tingle goes down Jayce’s arm. For a moment he expects them to be back in that other place, blinding blue light and the glow of countless souls surrounding them, but no—they’re still here, in the bright midday sunlight, on the shattered dome above Piltover. They are real.
Jayce and Viktor survive. There is still so much for them to figure out.

“You know,” Sol says softly, their eyes taking on that strange and dreamy look they sometimes have. “In all the times I’ve known you, I don’t think you’ve ever told me what happened to your arm.”
Sol says things like this, sometimes. Weird turns of phrase. All the times I’ve known you, not time. Vace has tried to ask them about it, but they always brush it off. He’s learned not to ask—it’s just another one of Sol’s quirks, something else that makes them seem… different, in a way that made Vace hate them just as much as all the other Strato weirdoes so many years ago, but that makes them so intriguing now. Endearing, even.
A quiet moment of vulnerability between Vace and Sol.

“If this Hextech thing doesn't work out,” Jayce drawls, slow and sweet, head still dangling awkwardly from his neck, except now he's facing Viktor. “You know what we should do?”
This is a joke Viktor isn't in on. But now he's intrigued, so he draws up his good leg and rests his elbow on it, letting the quiet hum of music wash over him.
“What,” he asks, “Should we do, Jayce?”
Jayce is holding in a laugh. “Suicide pact.”
(Public appearances are boring. Viktor steals Jayce away, and they reflect.)
