Summary
"Yeah? Like you're doing right now?" Two's voice increases in volume. It makes Five's ears ring. "I bet you've done more damage to your pen than any actual problem solving, idiot."
He might be right. Five hates it.
"Piss off."
Two doesn't piss off. Obviously.
"How can you even try to think about math when - when F-four -?"
He doesn't need to finish the question, Five can infer what he wants to ask. From past experience he knows that Two won't understand. This is how he functions. Equations are calming. Equations make sense and they are solvable, something he can figure out, he can focus on. Could focus on if Two wasn't distracting him. (Also, if he figures this out, maybe he can finally jump in time. Prevent this from happening. Make sure that Four is safe, because Four needs someone to keep him that way. Four's too soft. Five doesn't want that softness to ever go away, and he may not be great at this family stuff and all, but he's not stupid enough to not notice that it's fading away.)

Summary
On April 2nd, inside the Hargreeves' mansion, Five spits out of the time vortex, after rewinding time for the nth time that day.
Crashing harshly, Five staggers up, snatches the shotgun, teleports right behind the old man, Reginald Hargreeves -
Lines up the shotgun right against his head.
"Let my family go."
The entire Sparrow Academy falls eerily silent. The whole battle abruptly ends.
Five ignores the blood streaming down the side of his forehead, ignores how part of it trickles into his left eye.
...Ignores how his heart is thudding so erratically in his chest from the overexertion of his powers, how his knees are threatening to collapse, to dry heave all the blood crawling up his throat before passing out -
Five grits his teeth and ignores it all. Everything was irrelevant, everything, except how he could get his family out alive.
It all went to shit the moment they teleported with the briefcase.
