He sees hooks, and suckers, and wings that don’t exist; belonging to creatures that don’t exist, and they’re all leaving behind invisible marks on the white porcelain as they squirm.
Suddenly it hurts to hold that bowl. It slips from his hands and shatters into million pieces, like millions of insects. He imagines the shards impaling them as it collides with the floor. There are insect guts everywhere and he doesn’t remember breathing being this hard.
