Summary
Sam Winchester desperately wishes with everything he has to find a cure from the Mark of Cain for his older brother, Dean. And when Sam finds the means of doing just that, Dean refuses his brother’s help, until circumstances leave him unable to refuse any longer. But with the cure, consequences follow. Consequences Sam, Dean and Castiel could never have foreseen.
But will the knowledge they seek in the aftermath provide answers, or will it leave them once again facing an uncertain future.

“What’s the last thing you remember?”
Sam frowns. “I—we were in the car. We were headed to work on that witch case I think? That’s—that’s it, though.”
Dean studies him, as if trying to determine if he’s lying, and Sam fidgets under the scrutiny, knowing there’s nothing else he can say. Finally, Dean nods, and there’s a heaviness to his expression that Sam can’t make sense of. “You got whammied. Just—” Dean holds up one hand and whistles as he flops it down, as if to mime Sam collapsing. Sam winces. “Took me a bit of time, but I got it figured out.”
