    “Sure.” The single word was delivered in an even, casual tone that somehow made it infinitely more devastating.

    Wen Kexing felt his heart slam once more against his ribs so violently he was almost certain Zhou Zishu could hear it.

    For reasons he himself was not yet ready to examine too closely, Zhou Zishu’s easy agreement unsettled him far more than rejection ever could have.

    Still, Wen Kexing forced out a small laugh through clenched teeth.

    “A-Xu,” he drawled lightly, “how unexpectedly forward of you. Who would have thought you would be willing to let an omega mark you when you have not even touched him before?”

    His smile sharpened faintly around the edges as he continued, voice lowering into something almost careless.
    “How do you know I am not damaged goods?”
    Zhou Zishu did not laugh.

    “Lao Wen,” Zhou Zishu said evenly, “are you backing down now? You were the one who made the offer.”
