Sara is still staring at her, mouth agape, unsure about how to respond. She doesn’t fully believe they’re understanding each other, because what Sara is gathering from this conversation is that the witch is demanding a child – an actual human newborn – as payment for a spell.

Yelena refuses to admit that she keeps tabs on Kate for non-business reasons. She ABSOLUTELY refuses to tell this to Kate herself.
“I would argue you are wrong about that but this is supposed to be a friendly meeting, yes?” The bartender brought the drinks and Yelena took a sip.
Kate grinned and nodded. “Yes.”
“Good, then I will also not insult your choice in drink,” Yelena said, faking a cough of disgust.
Kate rolled her eyes. “What would you have ordered, then?”
“Something with less sugar and more alcohol,” Yelena did away with her straw and took a large drink of the concoction, nearly draining the whole thing before setting it down on the bar. “Come now, Kate, you didn’t invite me here to discuss our difference in drink preference.”
