Max enthusiastically leans forward and takes hold of the bottle. "I will," she volunteers, grinning like a mad-man. Mike guesses her childhood nickname still fits. She's MadMax through and through.
The bottle spins. And then slows. And it looks like it's going to land on Lucas and Max, it's slowing, and slowing, and slowing, and Mike smirks up at Max. Ha, in your face, Mayfield.
Mike turns to Will triumphantly, but finds him staring at the bottle with an expression that Mike can't read. He follows Will's gaze and finds the neck of the bottle isn't pointing at Lucas. It's pointing at him. Which means…
Fuck.

He's standing in the kitchen, cradling what appears to be a gallon of coffee close to his chest as if to protect it from Loki's villainy. "No! No, no, no! You aren't allowed to make jokes that I would make! You're evil! Be silent and brooding!"
"Oh, I'm sorry, is my existence bothering you?"
"Yes," Stark says, "there are actually few things right now that bother me as much as you do."
OR: in between the "puny god" scene and his sentencing on Asgard, Loki gets caught in a time loop. He'd his refund now, please.
(Odin is a shitty parent, the Avengers are confused, Loki is just trying not to go even more insane than he already is, and the author is starting to wonder why she has so much dialogue from these movies memorized.)
