Summary
Does his team see that, looking at him now? Do they see the blood that had covered him like ink? That drippled out over his lips because of his greed of needing more? Do they see him as a monster?
Delicious melody, heavenly song, tantalizing and warm. Can't stop. Doesn't want to stop.
Is he a monster?
Keith drags his tongue across his teeth, searching for a hint of that metallic taste.
He feels like one.
___
Keith wakes up on a strange planet he doesn't remember and is faced with a tight-lipped team that can't look him in the eye. His scattered memories show him nothing but blood and gore, and he's left with the understanding that things will never be the same again.

Summary
When Alphys tells the class they're all doing a project on anthropology, it shouldn't have come as a surprise; they'd covered the most common variations of xenopology in last month's course, so it only made sense for them to do the same for humans. For Kris, it still got awkward pretty quickly, for very obvious reasons. The side-ways glances and giggles from their classmates when Alphys would stutter over some particularly weird fact about their body was something Kris could handle, but what they hadn't expected was to be asked some very personal questions by some of their friends… for the sake of the project and no other reason, of course.
Kris gets in their head easily, and it's hard to keep secrets under close scrutiny. They'd never been very used to receiving lots of attention, or understanding what it is they're feeling. Can Kris juggle helping three people with their school work, having a healthy social life, and also get their own project done in time?
Good question. Hi-jinks ensue.

Kris hand darted out in an attempt to block the knife heading straight for their head. Only, it was their hand that caught it. Through the middle of their palm.

Their hands shake. It could be adrenaline, but a familiar weight settles on them that it is not often paired with. The stress, the experiences of the day, weigh on them with crushing pressure. Exhaustion, but the inability to find relief. If they could find a distraction, a way to esca—
“Kris?”
They whip their head around toward the sudden voice. Around the corner of the house, Susie stands, watching. “Shit, dude, you okay? I heard something fall an—”
“I’m fine, Susie.” Kris interrupts, silently thanking the Angel for their saving grace. “I know what I’m doing.”
There’s silence—Kris knows she understands, there’s nothing that needs to be said.
Then, Susie steps forward. She looks down at their hand and gently offers hers. “Should we go somewhere then, together? And get away from everything?”
Kris and Susie have a late-night talk about the stress of their roles in the prophecy. Kris has overpowering guilt that they dare not share.
