Ruhn Danaan's distant cousin, Cormac Donnall, has been an unwelcome guest at his manor these last few weeks. Presumably here to secure an alliance between their two families by wedding his half-sister Bryce, Cormac had caused nothing but trouble from Ruhn since his arrival a fortnight ago. Their father had agreed to the betrothal, even though Bryce was handfast to Orion Athalar, better known to all as Hunt. With the villa in an uproar, Ruhn has retreated to his manor home, but his cousin followed. Cormac then revealed the real reason he had come to Lunathion. And it wasn’t to wed Bryce. He is working against the Asteri, the ruling family of Midgard. His assignment for the rebel group Ophion has brought him from the Isle of Avallen to the Valbaran continent. Cormac has been trying to convince Ruhn and his friends to join the cause even since.
When Cormac asks Ruhn to retrieve a message from Agent Daybright, Ruhn finds himself drawn to the mysterious spy. Will they work together against the Asteri and Pollux Antonius, the local governor, better known as 'The Hammer' to help those who are being overtaxed?
