She returns to look at Jackie, noticing the gym bag stuffed with clothes and cash.
“You’re not serious,” Nat scoffs with a laugh.
“Look, I don’t know about you, but I’m not ready to throw in the towel and die in fucking Wiskayok, New Jersey.”--
Follows roughly 10 years of one Natalie Scatorccio and one Jacqueline Taylor cohabitating in a Chelsea apartment while they learn how to be adults.

She feels hypnotized by Natalie in ways that are indescribable, feelings she doesn’t understand left turning in her stomach.
It was never like this back home. Even with the boys she dated — however temporary they were — Lottie never felt this. This magnetism, this intoxication, the way she feels lost without Natalie standing beside her.
A prophet and her pariah, Lottie feels completed.or: after the failed hunting competition, natalie teaches lottie how to hunt, and feelings are the easiest thing to catch out here.

Summary
Wednesday wakes up from being stabbed in the neck with a hypodermic needle, which is a surprise. She has a pounding headache and an issue with focusing her eyes that means it takes her a dangerously long time to figure out what she’s looking at.
“You’re supposed to be in prison,” Wednesday says before her brain can catch up with her mouth and tell it that ‘you’re supposed to be in prison’ is a stupid thing to say to someone who is, evidently, not in prison.
[Wednesday is a semester and a half into her tenure at Nevermore, and people keep trying to kill her. It’s not that she doesn’t appreciate the effort. It’s just that she has better things to do than try to teach people how to do murder properly.]

For once she just couldn’t find it in herself to bask in the torture of watching Enid suffer. And so, she unstuck another band aid and pressed it carefully to the irritated skin, her thumb accidentally grazing over the edge of the cut.
Enid hissed at this, grasping for her elbow out of reflex, but Wednesday didn't feel any of it. Her world had already tilted over in a violent convulsion and fell backwards into the stream of time.
In honor of the already highly peculiar day, the sudden vision immediately outranked any other she had experienced so far in the categories of ‘most unnerving’, ‘atrocious’ and ‘deeply perplexing’.
