Summary
Contrary to popular belief, there are certain advantages to working the night shift in this dingy convenience store.
The first and most obvious one is the extra cash Jihoon gets, not that he has any immediate need for money (he really can’t think of anything he actually needs) but it is nice to know that if he ever needed it, he’d have it. Seungcheol jokes that he’ll eventually just use all the money he’s saved up to hire a hitman to take out that person who’s been tampering with his studio lights out. Which leads to the second advantage of this job: it keeps Seungcheol, his very paternal best friend, satisfied. Satisfied with all the ‘fresh air’ he’s getting outside of ‘work’, that he’s finally ‘socializing’ and putting himself out there. Jihoon doesn’t argue with Seungcheol, not because he doesn’t notice the irony in it but because, he does actually enjoy socializing with Vernon. Vernon is the other part-timer at the store and one of the few people that Jihoon currently enjoys the company of.
The last advantage of this otherwise shitty job just walked into the store.

Flower petals and confetti rain down here more often than actual rain.
Jihoon couldn’t remember a day when he didn’t either witness or walk past a pile of party favors, left behind like a deserted crime scene, leaving traces of some stranger's story that Jihoon will never ponder again after the first minute of doing so.
In this reality, everyone’s body has evolved and adapted to show love in a form beyond what would seem normal. Basically a few steps farther down the evolutionary chain than the casual blush or goosebumps.
It's a reality where someone can literally see themselves explode upon realizing that they were in love.
(Realizing is the key word here)

It’s been a week since Soonyoung last woke up in Jihoon’s bed, and the few days that followed were full of cautious distance, just like the first few days after always are. They’ve been doing this long enough, often enough, that sometimes in these slightly awkward weeks, Soonyoung forgets how good it is to be with Jihoon. He’s glad to be sitting across from him as friends, as...whatever it is they are to each other. (And that’s a fear of both of theirs, he thinks: naming that vague, broad whatever. Things become real when you give them a name.)
