Now he spoke to him more deliberately, keeping his voice too low for the young people in the kitchen to hear. “First time I saw the kid, I thought he seemed like a showboat. Some talent, charisma, a lot of flash, not much substance. But I was wrong about that.”
Aizawa raised his eyebrows. “Funny. I’ve made that mistake myself.”

Toshinori's conversation with Endeavor must have left him feeling raggedly honest to the point of rudeness, because he found himself sighing, “Look, that’s a nice gesture, but I don’t really feel the need for pity udon.”
Aizawa closed his eyes for a moment. When they reopened, they looked a whole order of magnitude more tired than usual. “Pity means feeling sorry for something that happened to someone else, not you. You think you’re the only person that’s ever gone through this? This is solidarity udon." Then he added under his breath, “jackass.”
After Nighteye's memorial, Toshinori powers through several social interactions.
