Soap had always kept his hair short for tactical reasons. Whenever he would notice the hair around his mohawk growing out he would promptly give himself a trim with the pair of scissors he kept in the drawer of his quarter's bathroom. But recently keeping up with his hair had proven to be difficult.

Of course, Ghost wasn't blind to Soap's little crush on him. In fact, he relished in it sometimes. At first, he told himself that it was nothing and he wouldn't let himself get too far into it, afraid of letting the other man get too attached and get too attached himself, but he wasn't expecting how much he enjoyed teasing reactions out of the other man.
He wasn't expecting how much he absolutely loved how he was the only one who could make Soap blush from just a few suggestive words.

As much as it affected everyone, nobody felt it quite like Ghost, no one mourned quite as much as him. The one time he let himself care and it backfired so how, how could he just pretend everything was fine when it turns out Soap is alive?

Fuck canon, Soaps alive! Soap is scared and decides to fake his death with Laswells help. After a full year he finally comes back to help end Makarov, Ghost doesn’t know how to deal with it.

Summary
“What is it then?”, Soap tried, he really, really tried to stay focused.
“I’ve been having these… thoughts.”, did Ghost sound a little smug?
“Thoughts?”, Soap started to clench his hands around the edge of the altar.
“About a close friend of mine”, Ghost didn’t really socialise with many people of their community. The only person he could describe as being close to the stoic man was John himself.
“What kind of thoughts?”, John wanted to lean closer into the smell of the other. He wanted… so many things.
“Hmm, I suppose you would call them… impure?"***
Instead of joining the Military like he wanted to, Soap stayed in his little home town to become a priest. After an injury Ghost had to leave the military and ended up joining Soap's church. Over time the two get closer and closer, sharing trauma and trust.
