“There is no way for a dead cultivator to return,” Jiang Cheng scoffed, not even willing to entertain the thought.
“Perhaps, perhaps not,” Nie Huaisang shrugged, “Even if he came back, that wouldn’t do much to help, would it? Your sister is still gone. His reputation still damaged.”
“Stop speaking in riddles,” Jiang Wanyin growled, “What did you come here for, Nie Huaisang?”
“I asked you what you would do for your brother back,” Nie Huaisang started, “I would do anything to have mine back, Jiang Wanyin. And I’m here to offer you that same choice. Because our brothers’ deaths never should have happened. They happened because of schemes and plots. They happened because of lies and deception. Your brother was made to be a villain and was led to his death because he was too powerful. Mine was murdered because he stood in the way of Jin Guangshan.”
There's nothing Jiang Cheng wouldn't do to have his siblings back. And when Nie Huaisang comes to him with a proposal to save them by changing everything, he doesn't even hesitate to agree.

Lan Wangji gazed out over crumbling city, his eyes drawn to the mist-shrouded mountain range looming in the distance. Those peaks had long whispered of sanctuary - a hidden oasis to survivors. A secretive organization that thrived against every odd. But could such a force truly exist in a word drowning in ruin?
A low growl snapped him back to the present. A lone zombie, separated from the horde in the Yunmeng, staggered down the alleyway. Lan Wangji retreated into the shadows, his heart heavy with the weight of impossibility. Crossing the town was madness with those monsters present. Was there any path left?
But retreat was no longer an option, not when each step backward cost lives - precious, dwindling lives. Wen Ruohan's monstrous army crept closer to the Impure Realm and time was bleeding away. They had to press on.
They had to reach the Invisible Land, convince its elusive inhabitants to unite, to fight, to salvage what remained of humanity.
Lan Wangji must persuade the Patriarch- no matter the cost. This was humanity's final chance, and Lan Wangji knew they couldn't afford to let it slip into oblivion.

Summary
What if Lan Wanji goes over the cliff with Wei Wuxian? What if Wei Wuxian and Lan Wanji acknowledged their "marriage" ages ago and were very committed to each other before shit hit the fan? What if they leave the cultivation world and start a family of their own and become immortal (sort of)?
Well that's what happens in this one! Until one fateful day when the heads of the cultivation world come to realize that these two lovebirds have been alive this entire time! And wait Jiang Yanli and peacock survived? Anyways, this is set about 16 years after Wei Wuxian yeets himself off a cliff (and Lan Wanji following).
