“Where does it hurt?”
Keith doesn’t elaborate, and Shiro doesn’t ask him to. Just raises his prosthetic hand in a loose fist and lets it fall sluggishly on his own chest where he guesses his heart is hidden.
Two times. Here. It hurts here.
Keith doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t reach up to wipe the tears from his face. He props himself up on an elbow and leans down to first lay a dry kiss to Shiro's chest, and then lay his soft, heavy head. His ear pressed over Shiro’s plaintive heart where it slowly beats on through the night.
TL;DR communication is easy, healing is hard

Summary
Idling through space in their self-imposed night, the Black Lion is almost silent and almost still, but Keith can feel the hum of it in his bones, like breathing. Like his pulse.
Louder is the breathing across the narrow quarters in the Lion’s belly. The occasional sniff, the occasional cough, and the all too frequent sound of Shiro shifting and turning on the thin cot that’s the twin of Keith’s own. The sound of Shiro sleeping is conspicuous in its regularity, and right now it’s too irregular for him to be sleeping.
Keith isn’t one to comment. They’re in the same boat.

Life is short, and third chances are improbable, even with a man like Keith at your side. The war isn’t over, and Shiro doesn’t want to see the end of it without telling him he’s everything. He can’t think of a single reason not to anymore, and he already can’t take it back. There’s a scab on Keith’s knee and his fingernails are bitten short and sweat shines on his throat. Shiro wants to be consumed by him.

His metal fingertips tremble for something to crush. “You don’t know that,” Shiro whispers back.
“No,” Keith says. “You don’t know it, but you won’t.”
And then he steps fully into Shiro’s space again, his two hands wrapping around Shiro’s palm, tugging up, up, until it rests flush against Keith’s throat.
Shiro struggles with controlling his new Galra arm. Keith helps him with it.

Shiro blinked. “This is Black,” he said slowly, like Keith was being particularly dense. “Your Lion?”
“She’s yours too.”
After Sendak's invasion, Keith takes Shiro on a journey to be healed.

Keith’s eyes flicker up to meet his – and in the scant moment Shiro’s able to hold it, Keith’s head lowers and he presses his lips against Shiro’s pointer finger. His lips open, and his finger is engulfed in heat.
The Altean arm feels foreign to Shiro. He knows it’s just a tool, a weapon.
But Keith seems intent on lavishing it with the same amount of devotion he shows to every other aspect of Shiro.

Summary
Keith wanders toward the floor-to-ceiling window along the far wall, his half-finished beer in hand. His reflection catches in the industrial-strength glass, ghostly muted and transparent, and the singing in Shiro’s veins trills at the sight of Keith standing here, in his living room, with his dark hair loose and his lounging clothes clinging to him just so. In the dimness, it’s easy to look out onto the city and into the deepening, darkening sky with its handful of bright stars. Shiro stands by Keith and watches with him, their eyes following the trailing lights of ships as they launch and land.
“This is a lot better than the sliver of sky I can see from my bedroom,” Keith abruptly decides after a few minutes more, the dryness of his voice bringing a smile to Shiro’s lips.

Shiro has a good job, an apartment with a nice view, and a loving family that expects him to find a nice girl and settle down any day now. But when he helps his new neighbor, Keith, move in down the hall, Shiro can’t help but follow where his heart leads him.

Summary
The suit swings on its hangar as Shiro backs out of his driveway, but it doesn't fall, it holds on. And soon enough, the road is straight and the suit is still, casting a long shadow across the backseat of Shiro's car. His headlights only shine so far ahead, but he knows this part of the drive by heart. Too well, like the way his heart is beating too fast. He takes one turn, and then another, and another, heartbeat gradually slowing as the freeway opens up in front of him. There’s not much traffic this late at night. The road becomes less familiar as the hours stack up, and somehow it’s a relief to not know exactly what comes next. If he looks in his rearview mirror, he can see the suit hanging there, his sole companion. He’ll snap another picture of it soon.

Two glassy blue eyes look down at Shiro from the bed of the pickup truck. The dog is huge, white and dove gray markings reminiscent of a wolf, and a thick coat built for the winter to come. Shiro blinks up at the dog, and the dog looks back. He can’t resist:
“Hello there,” Shiro says, friendly.
