It did not smell of peaches anymore, but it’s mere sight was a comfort the monkey refused to let go of. He quickly put the box away into the shadows again, and made his bed, forming something that looked more like a nest rather than a good bed, the old red scarf settled near the center for easier access. With a satisfied hum, Macaque stepped back, and sighed, wishing, not for the first time, that he did not have to go through heat episodes.
In which Macaque and Wukong get their shit together, with a bit of biological nudging.

Summary
Spring always wondered why Winter left whenever he rose from his sleep.
Frost had yet to fully melt to uncover the roots and dirt for an upcoming warm awakening, so why does Winter hide himself away before Spring awoke?
As far as Sun Wukong knew, Winter had always kept him safe while he slept through the chilly season.
And as far as Macaque's aware, Spring didn't need to know how warm Winter felt when his heart started to thaw.

Something Macaque hadn’t felt in a long time bounced around in his chest and throat as he absorbed MKs words. Gods, a family. He hadn’t been in a family in such a long time. A family that cares. The idea of it ran circles around his head.
And the kids face.

The plan was simple, really. Stay on the lookout in case things got too dangerous, keep an eye not only on Lady Bone Demon but also on her henchman and intervene if and only if Wukong got in a life or death situation. Otherwise he'd lay low and let him 'do his thing.' Or so had he said.
"Oh, and there is one more thing."
"Which is...?" Macaque prompted, looking at the radar to ensure they weren't being followed.
"Protect MK," Wukong stated firmly.

Summary
Where were Wukong and Macaque while MK's mech was being assembled? Do they seem like the type of people to just sit around, waiting for the final hit to strike Lady Bone Demon, or did they make the most of the time they were given to prepare before delivering that last blow?
Maybe, just maybe, they allowed themselves a small breather before facing the battlefield again.
