Summary
After a ritual goes awry, MK finds a memory-impaired Macaque in his dojo. Macaque, confused and more than a little overwhelmed by the changes, seeks out the one person he finds most familiar in the hopes that he can get some answers. And Wukong, faced with a Macaque unburdened by their millennia of rivalry, realizes there are some pretty complicated emotions resurfacing, and he's not sure he can bury them a second time.

“ So…” Tang starts, clearing his throat to try and clear the air, “What else have you been up to recently, Macaque? It’s been a little while, have you been busy?”
What have I been up to? Well, sleeping and jacking off all day, he doesn’t say, and fantasising like a romcom lead, of course. How about you?
“Just… the usual,” Macaque mumbles into the countertop.
Or, In his four thousand years of living, Macaque still hasn't learned how to deal with his heats. Wukong isn't any better. They figure it out together.

Summary
“Pfft, I know I’m a looker, but you don’t hafta stare that much,” Wukong says, trying to break the tension and divert from the fact that Macaque’s intense scrutiny is making him clammy.
“Did he lose his ability to speak?” MK wonders.
Macaque’s ears flicker towards MK’s voice, and as if in response, his mouth opens, eyes still heavy on Wukong. But what comes out are not words. Or rather, not recognizable words—not to this world, not to anyone. Not anyone but Wukong.
Macaque opens his mouth, and speaks the language of celestial primates.
“Who are you?”
Or, to protect Sun Wukong, Macaque dooms himself to live out three turning points of his first life: birth, friendship, and death. When MK and the gang volunteer to look after him, Wukong is forced to grapple with memories thought to be buried, reality-shattering discoveries, and most dangerous of all, a Macaque that likes him. It's a losing battle.

“Part of him wants to snap and bite and lash out, give Wukong what he wants or drive him out. But awful whispers flit at the back of his mind, tempting him. In for a penny, he thinks, wondering how much bad revealing another chink in his armor could do.
The answer is a lot, but he’d rather not entertain it.
It turns out, he doesn’t have to, because the choice is ripped away from him. By virtue of his gold vision, or maybe just that he’s shockingly perceptive when he needs to be, Wukong has him figured in an embarrassingly short time. He blinks his eyes back fully open, a twist of a frown just touching his lips. ‘When’s the last time you slept?’”

Macaque can’t sleep and Wukong pays him an inopportune visit.

Summary
“Alright. Great chat,” Wukong says, something akin to resignation in his voice. He stands, brushing dust from his legs.
“Wait, Wukong.”
Macaque itches to reach out, grab Wukong by the pant leg and pull him back down to the ledge, probably call him an idiot until he can wrap his head around the want that bristles under his fur.
“Bro, your shirt is filthy. You really gotta change it.”
Or, Macaque takes the first steps towards something old and something new.

Summary
The next time he wakes up there’s light shining out from underneath the curtains. Macaque is still nestled against him, seemingly asleep, but Wukong can tell he’s already awake by his breathing. When Macaque realizes Wukong is no longer asleep, he raises his head from Wukong’s chest and briefly nuzzles his face in greeting. “Happy solstice,” he says sleepily. “Ready to be lazy today?”
It’s almost winter.

“Is it bad?” Wukong asks from the other side of the fire, cast in an orange glow. Macaque looks up at him and rolls his eyes.
“Could be worse,” he says. It’s a half truth. It doesn’t feel bad, mostly because the area has already begun to go numb, which might be worse. “Might be poisoned, though. Stupid thing was probably venomous.”
“Shit. Is it…?”
Life-threatening?
Macaque snorts. “Guess we'll have to sit here and find out, huh?”
Or, alternatively: two monkeys walk into a cave.

Performing Monkey Au. The Jade Emperor and his court is fascinated with the new life and magic that began to fill the mortal world – even creating a menagerie of the fascinating life so he can enjoy in the comfort of his heavenly plain. The rarest and most prized in his collection was the monkey demon born from stone – granted the name of Sun Wukong. While Guanyin believes that the demon would be happier in the mortal plain, the emperor is reluctant to give up his rare pet however.
To calm the goddesses concerns on the others happiness, he instructs his patrols to search for a suitable companion for the monkey demon – his patrols rescue a struggling dark-furred macaque demon.
Problem solved!
Though Wukong and the newly kidnapped wild demon would disagree…

Scowling, he reaches up to brush his fingers over his face, checking if anything is on it. At first, there’s nothing there, and this only serves to make him more confused.
