The stewards' bi-weekly mending meet-ups (the Stitch and Bitch, as Captain Crozier affectionately refers to it when he wants to wind Thomas up) are invaluable to keeping the ship running. Rather than simply an excuse to share gossip, they're an essential opportunity to discuss the moods of various officers, work out how to best address petty issues between the men without involving command, and keep tabs on how well things are generally keeping together aboard Terror.
And share gossip, of course, that is still part of it. And a large aspect of that is dealing with the various romantic entanglements aboard - because Articles or no, if you stick fifty men in a box without access to the outside world for years at a time, some of them are going to fall in (and out of) love with each other. And therein lies chaos.

After narrowly escaping death’s grasp (and It’s), Stan breaks out of the hospital and books an emergency trip back to Derry in hopes that he can cure whatever this thing is in his head that’s continually taunting him and telling him he’s going to die at any given moment.
His first night in the townhouse is a rough one. Thankfully, he has Bill to keep the evils at bay.

Crowley frowns, turns to him with a quizzical expression. “Angel, I’m right here.” Aziraphale reaches down to the bar beneath the seat and moves it back as far as it will go. He then looks at Crowley, maintains eye contact, and gestures very blatantly to his lap. Crowley stumbles over several words. “I’m not–Angel–we-” “-Ten seconds. Ten,” “Angel, we–we can’t.” “Nine.” “This is crossing a line, we’re-” “Eight.” “It’s not that I don’t want to-” “Seven.”Crowley growls under his breath, takes the keys out of the ignition, throws them in a vague direction and Aziraphale hears him mumble, “Fuck it.” Before clambering over the middle console with the grace of a newborn deer finding it’s legs.

“Yes, please.”
There’s some shuffling, the snap of Bill punching down the play button, and then the soft, tinny sound of “Seaside Rendezvous” playing from his headphones.
They lapse into another silence, as “Seaside Rendezvous” eventually bleeds into “The Prophet’s Song” and then, of course, “Love Of My Life.” As the tape plays, and Bill continues to gently pet Ted’s hair, Ted realizes that he’s about to fall asleep like this: sprawled across Bill’s bed, still clad in his Pretzels ’N Cheese uniform, Freddie Mercury crooning through the Walkman and into his ear, clock barely pushing 6:30. He thinks about shaking off the sleepiness and throwing himself into the shower, like he should’ve done in the first place, but the soothing motion of Bill’s fingers combing through his hair and the warmth of his bed is a stronger call than the call of getting their night properly started.
Or, Ted starts to notice how often he finds an excuse to get in Bill's bed, and then never really gets around to getting back out of it
