It’s not that he had never been gentle with Jongseong— it’s just that the gentleness between them didn’t come as easily as the gentleness Heeseung was capable of reciprocating to the others.
Tenderness didn’t come easy when they have known each other for so long— when they’ve met when Heeseung hasn’t yet mastered wearing apathy like armor. When they’ve met when Heeseung was the worst combination of earnest, ambitious, and hungry. When Jongseong had been more of a mirror than a friend.
But like this. With Jongseong’s eyes half closed. With his shirt stretched far into his right shoulder, showing off his birthmark, his neck, his collarbones. With Jongseong finding him in his sleep once again— meek, pliant, and expectant.
With Jongseong in the softest version of himself, Heeseung finds it easier than it has ever been— to place a hand on the small of his back, the worst combination of a bit gentle and a bit possessive. He pushes ever so slightly, “let's get you back to bed, sweetheart?”
Jay turned his head so fast, Heeseung was sure it hurt, “what?”

Jay can’t help but scoff. “It’s not gonna hurt.”
Sunghoon makes an affronted noise. “Well you didn’t have to say it so confidently.”
“Oh my god,” he groans. “Just put it in. Please.”
There are certain things one only sees in hindsight. And later, when Jay replays this exact moment with his hand between his legs— Sunghoon leaning down, trembling lips brushing unsurely over his, pulling himself out of his pants— he will realize that no lucid omega asks their best friend for their dick unless they’re hopelessly in love.
Or: Jay unexpectedly goes into heat. Sunghoon is ready to give him just enough to help him through it. Both get far more than they bargained for.
